Cordless Power Tools
The other day I was sitting there using my Makita 18v Cordless Power Tools when I was thinking about all of the other brands of cordless power tools and how handy they are. Well while I was debating on this fact I was trying to do some research on which company has the best combo set and which add on tools I could get to extend my assortment. I am a big tool freak so I actually started following through with this.
I tracked down a great website with and read a little bit more on different kits. They mainly talked about Dewalt, Craftsman, Makita, Black and Decker Firestorm, and Ridgid. After reading through the site I followed a link to Amazon.com to learn more. After looking at some of the user ratings It came to me very clearly on which sets to buy and which not to buy to fit my personal use.
Dewalt - is highly recommended for hard every day use and on the job use for residential work and commercial work. The problem is that this sometimes is over kill for the majority of the people in the united states!
Craftsman Cordless Combo Kits- I found that it is very affordable and it lacks in power but for the money its a great tool! Its more for strictly Residential use and light use around the house. It can do some commercial grade work but I dont recommend it for jobs that require constant abuse on the tool. I would recommend Craftsman to any homeowner out there! Come on the 19.2 line batteries are only 39.99$ compared to dewalt 89.99$
Black and Decker Firestorm - Its in the same category as Craftsman and its a little bit cheaper but not much Im talking 5$ - 10$ cheaper and thats about it. Its hard to find replacement batteries for these tools unless you buy them online. So if your in a pinch your going to have to wait on shipping to get the batteries to you. The quality is also a little lower than Craftsman which kind of surprised me. After personally using both of these I would recommend the Craftsman Cordless Combo Kits over the Black and Decker Firestorm cordless combo kits any day! This Firestorm kit i would recommend for the person that does extremely light work.
Makita Cordless Combo Kits - Now Makita is a WOW factor in my book they are by far my favorite set of tools out there! Makita is great for any kind of job you come across! Even jobs you dont plan to come across! These kits help make your every day construction guy/gal very happy because of the strength reliability of the Makita Tools! This is one of my favorite sets! Its about the same price as Dewalt also! They do offer different voltage sets but I dont recommend going down to their 12v line to me its not worth it.
Ridgid Power Tools - They are somewhat really impressive. They have a lifetime warranty on the batteries! That is amazing.... But I heard they send you rebuilt batteries that tend to burn out in 3-4 months. That is a huge down fall.. Otherwise I rate ridgid below Dewalt and Makita by far! I wouldnt really recommend this set at all.. I would look more at the Craftsman set just because its still cheap to get batteries and tools. Ridgid is hard to buy and get them to honor the warranty they try to push it off every time you turn in your batteries for the warranty. I read a review where a guy turned his battery in that has been sitting on his shelf for 3 months and would not take a charge so he took it in and finally 6 months later he finally got a battery to replace it and they did not want to honor the warranty due to misuse. How was that guy misusing it if it was on a shelf? Really Ridgid? Please give your customers better support.
Thats pretty much it for today guys! I just thought I would share some of my feelings on these tools! I would go check out Great Power Tools Review for sure though to help make your choice!
